WMS Announcements
Same Gender Program

Woodbridge Middle School is proud to offer same gender classes.  Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students have the option of same gender classes for science, social studies, math, and language arts.  Parents are given the opportunity to opt students in as a part of the standard class selection form.   Students are enrolled by selecting Same Gender classes when making course selections.  In addition, parents have the option of transferring their son/daughter in from other schools, as long as they are able to provide transportation both to and from school.

For information feel free to e-mail Skyles Calhoun,
WMS principal, at calhousa@pwcs.edu.  Research has shown that there are tremendous differences in how boys and girls learn. Teachers who are trained to teach the way boys and girls learn best can increase the rate of academic achievement.  Our staff has been trained by one of the leading experts in the field, Dr. Leonard Sax, author of Why Gender Matters:  What Parents and Teachers Need to Know about the Emerging Science of Sex Differences

For further information about this fascinating research, you may wish to visit www.singlesexschools.org.  This website is hosted by the National Association for Single Sex Public Education (NASSPE).  Dr. Sax is the founder of this organization.

PWCS/WMS BYOD Policy
For purposes of BYOD, "Device" means a personally owned wireless and/or portable computing device that includes, but is not limited to, existing and emerging mobile communication systems, portable Internet devices, hand held entertainment systems or portable information technology systems that can be used for word processing, and wireless Internet access.
Regulation 295-1, "Computer Systems and Network Services - PWCS Acceptable Use and Internet Safety Policy,”  and the PWCS Student Code of Behavior both reflect the use of personally owned computing devices in school.  All students who chose to participate will continue to adhere to revised Regulation 295-1 and the PWCS Student Code of Behavior.

Student reminders based on Regulation 295-1 and the PWCS Student Code of Behavior:
  • Possession of communication devices by students on PWCS grounds is a privilege, not a right.
  • All devices must be off and out of sight
  • Devices are to be used for instructional purposes only, which is to be determined by a staff member.
  • Students will access only files and Internet sites that are relevant to the curriculum.

WMS Encourages PTO Membership and Participation
It is our goal to have 100% parent and teacher participation in our PTO.  Involvment can get parents better connected to the school by sharing their ideas and experiences.  Please print and fill out the membership application and attend PTO meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:45 PM.

Woodbridge Middle Volunteer Programs
There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer their time and effort to Woodbridge Middle School events and activities, as well as assisting in day-to-day operations.  WMS welcomes and appreciates parent volunteers.  Any parent interested can fill out and submit the Woodbridge Middle School Volunteer Form.
